Sustainability of our watches

As a company and as individuals, we are very aware of our responsibility towards the environment and society. We have been committed to sustainable cooperation and economic activity from the very beginning and have already achieved a great deal. We have set ourselves even higher goals for the future.

What we are already doing today to produce watches sustainably

Respectfully

  • We are a family business founded in 1955 and designed for stability. For us, it is in the nature of things that we treat each other, our partners and customers with respect and fairness.
  • Tolerance and equality are self-evident for us and we enjoy working with our partners and customers around the world.

Durable

  • Our watches are very durable. The cases, steel straps, dials and hands are made of 316L stainless steel or brass and often last more than a lifetime. Our movements are of such high quality that an overhaul is worthwhile, as well as repairs, if necessary, even in 50 years or more. We store the spare parts.
  • Our watches are also designed to be timelessly beautiful, so that they can still be worn with pleasure in 50 years.

Resource-saving

  • In production, we make sure to produce as little waste as possible. If components are damaged, we sort them out and use them to build B-goods, which we then offer at preferential prices. The same applies to prototypes, demonstration models or damaged returns. Contact us.
  • Our leather straps are vegetable tanned. This protects the environment, since no chemical agents are used for sealing. Due to the great expertise of our German suppliers, the straps are still durable.
  • The majority of our components (cases, dials, movements) are already delivered in recyclable paper boxes.
  • We work digitally and only use the printer for the shipping labels.

CO2-saving

  • For sustainable shipping, we use DHL’s climate-neutral GoGreen service. We use the biodegradable filling material FLO-PAK BIO-8 to stuff our size-optimized paper shipping boxes. Disposal is easy via composting. We also use paper tape to close the boxes to avoid plastic waste.
  • In our business premises and for the servers on which our online shop runs, we use electricity from renewable energies.
  • For errands at local suppliers or e.g. customs, we use an e-bike.

We want to be plastic-free and climate-neutral by 2030. In order to achieve this, we aim to optimize one aspect every year.

  • Plastic-free packaging of straps (target 2024)
  • Gift and shipping boxes made from recycled and/or biodegradable material (target 2025)
  • Plastic-free packaging of hands in delivery (target 2026)
  • Climate-neutral heating of our business premises (target 2027)
  • All cases made from recycled material (target 2028)
  • All straps made from recycled and/or biodegradable material (target 2029)
  • Dials and hands made from recycled material (target 2030)
