Sellita SW200-2 Power+

A Swiss Automatic Movement with a 65-Hour Power Reserve

A mechanical movement does more than determine how precisely a watch keeps time. It also shapes how convenient the watch is in everyday use. How often does it need to be reset? How reliably does it keep running after a break from the wrist? And how easy is the movement to service in the long term? With the Sellita SW200-2 Power+, one of the best-known Swiss automatic movements receives a significant technical upgrade.

The new caliber offers a 65-hour power reserve, maintains the classic frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and keeps the proven dimensions of the SW200 family. As a result, it combines modern performance with a construction that has long stood for reliability, everyday usability, and ease of servicing.

For Circula, this combination is exactly what matters: more technical reserve, greater everyday convenience, and still a robust Swiss automatic movement that is ideally suited for functional tool watches.

From the Proven SW200 to Power+

For many years, the Sellita SW200 has been one of the most important automatic movements in the mid-range and upper-mid-range watch segment. It is considered a reliable workhorse of the Swiss watch industry and is used by numerous brands. Its strengths lie in its robust construction, good accuracy, broad availability, and global serviceability.

With the SW200-2 Power+,
Sellita takes this concept a clear step further. Externally, much remains familiar. Inside, however, the movement has been extensively revised. The goal was to significantly improve energy efficiency and noticeably increase the power reserve — without giving up the fundamental advantages of the SW200. The result is a modern Swiss automatic movement that still runs at 4 Hz, but with a 65-hour power reserve, it runs significantly longer than the previous SW200-1 with around 38 to 40 hours.

Why a 65-Hour Power Reserve Matters in Everyday Life

Power reserve describes how long a mechanical watch continues to run when it is not worn or wound. For classic automatic movements, this value has long been around 38 to 42 hours. In everyday life, that is often sufficient — as long as the watch is worn regularly.
A 65-hour power reserve, however, makes a noticeable practical difference. If you take off your watch on Friday evening, you can often put it back on Monday morning without having to reset it. This is especially convenient for people who rotate between several watches or do not wear their automatic watch every day.

For modern GADA watches — short for “Go Anywhere. Do Anything.” — a longer power reserve is a real gain in everyday convenience. A watch designed for daily life, travel, leisure, and work alike should be ready when needed, even after taking a break for a day or two.

More Performance —
Without Giving Up the Proven Frequency?

The SW200-2 Power+ is not just a cosmetic update. Sellita has revised key components to store and transfer energy more efficiently.
 The most important changes include:

 New barrel
The barrel has been redesigned to store more energy. This increases the power reserve to around 65 hours.

Optimized gear train
A more efficient gear train improves power transmission within the movement. As a result, the stored energy is used more effectively.

 Improved winding system
The automatic winding system has also been adapted. This is important because a longer power reserve must not only be stored, but also reliably built up in everyday use.

 Revised regulating system
Sellita has also further developed components related to regulation and stability. The aim is a durable, precise, and robust movement for modern requirements.

Despite the same basic architecture, many components are not simply interchangeable with the predecessor. The SW200-2 Power+ is therefore much more than an SW200-1 with a stronger mainspring. It is a comprehensive technical evolution within the familiar SW200 family.

A Movement for Tool Watches Like ProTrail and ProFlight

Circula is initially using the new Sellita SW200-2 Power+ in selected models of the ProTrail and ProFlight collections. Both lines stand for robust, functional watches with a clear purpose.

The ProTrail is designed as an outdoor and field watch for daily life, nature, and adventure. Here, an extended power reserve is especially fitting: the watch remains ready for use even if it has not been worn over the weekend or is rotated with other models.

The ProFlight, in turn, draws on the tradition of functional pilot watches. Excellent legibility, precision, and technical reliability are at its core. Here too, the SW200-2 Power+ is a meaningful evolution, as it combines familiar Swiss automatic technology with a tangible increase in running time. The new movement does not fundamentally change either model line — but it makes both even more convenient in everyday use.

Early to Adopt — Without Artificial Exclusivity

The Sellita SW200-2 Power+ is not an exclusive Circula movement. It will also be used by other brands in the future. Nevertheless, Circula is among the early manufacturers to make this new caliber available in selected collections. That distinction matters: the focus is not on exclusivity, but on the consistent technical evolution of existing tool watch models.

Circula uses the new movement where its advantages best match the character of the watch — in robust mechanical watches for people who do not just collect their watches, but actually wear them.

SW200-2 Power+ in Comparison

The new SW200-2 Power+ positions itself between proven standard movements and modern calibers with extended power reserves.

Caliber Power reserve Frequency Origin
Sellita SW200-1 approx. 38–40 hours 4 Hz / 28,800 vph Switzerland
Sellita SW200-2 Power+ approx. 65 hours 4 Hz / 28,800 vph Switzerland
La Joux-Perret G100 approx. 68 hours 4 Hz / 28,800 vph Switzerland
ETA Powermatic 80 approx. 80 hours 3 Hz / 21,600 vph Switzerland

While the La Joux-Perret G100 already impresses with a 68-hour power reserve and is also used by Circula, the SW200-2 Power+ is particularly interesting for models based on the familiar SW200 architecture. Its advantage lies in the combination of compatibility, serviceability, Swiss origin, and significantly improved running time.

Conclusion:
More Reserve for Modern Everyday Life

The Sellita SW200-2 Power+ is a logical evolution of one of the best-known Swiss automatic movements. It offers significantly more power reserve, retains the high 4 Hz frequency, and preserves the practical strengths of the SW200 family.

For Circula, this movement is a logical next step. It fits mechanical tool watches that are designed not only to impress technically, but also to perform reliably in everyday life. In the ProTrail and ProFlight, the SW200-2 Power+ provides more running time, greater convenience, and a contemporary technical foundation — without changing the character of the watches.

Or, in short: proven Swiss mechanics, thoughtfully advanced.
